HR Manager (12 month Mat leave cover)

Reports into : MD and Deputy MD

Salary : £50-60k (Dependent on experience)

Hybrid working, 3 days in the office. Part-time patterns considered.

Role overview:

A stand-alone role, supporting 70 employees, the HR Manager is responsible for delivering an effective, high-quality HR function that supports the organisation’s people strategy and company goals. Working closely with senior management, this role plays a key part in driving employee engagement, fostering the company culture that encourages talented employees to develop their skills.

Responsibilities:

– Act as a trusted advisor to heads of departments and managers on all HR-related matters.

– Manage the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, performance management and offboarding. Run right to work checks and administer all relevant paperwork. Review, analyse and improve processes.

– Ensure HR policies, procedures and practices are compliant with current employment legislation, data privacy and best practice. Ensure they are in keeping with company culture and values, while remaining relevant to the business.

– Work with the Resource Manager to implement time off policies and produce freelance contracts.

– Give counsel and oversee complex employee relations issues such as grievance, performance and disciplinary cases. Handle difficult cases with professionalism and carry out investigations when necessary.

– Manage cases of extended sick or bereavement leave and the return to work process.

– Produce and analyse HR reports and data to support decision-making.

– Manage HR initiatives and projects, including overseeing the annual review process. Supporting senior management on wider company projects.

– Manage approval process for salary and job changes, keep on top of communication and documentation.

– Manage the company employee surveys, increasing engagement, analysing feedback and actioning changes for a stronger company culture.

– Support talent management and succession planning initiatives, identifying key talent and training needs. Organising training workshops where necessary

– Oversee maintenance of accurate HR records, systems and org charts. Keeping HRIS HiBob up to date and functional.

– Research, renew and implement benefits, liaising with external partners and brokers.

– Assist employees with health and wellbeing issues and any healthcare claim queries.

– Work with the Finance manager to record and communicate payroll changes. Deal with issues and administer any payroll paperwork.

– Work with immigration to apply for or renew employee visas and offer relocation advice.

– Keep up to date with all changes in employment law, attend seminars and read case studies. Where necessary, Engage with external legal teams to ensure best practice at all times.

– Produce a monthly ‘Business and People report’ to keep senior management informed of company updates, trends and developments.

– Support the outreach team, help with school visits, on-site talks and other educational initiatives to support our DE&I strategy.

– Assist senior leadership team with company-wide communication and producing copy.

Skills and experience:

– Proven HR experience working within the creative industry. Some knowledge of post production would be a bonus.

– Familiar with an HRIS, experience with HiBob would be an advantage.

– Experience working in a stand-alone role or within a small team.

– Ability to adapt to the company culture and practice patience working with key stakeholders.

– Good employment law and employee relations knowledge.

– Ability to strike the right balance between making decisions that support business objectives while keeping employee needs and wellbeing at the forefront.

– A positive and motivated attitude with a proactive approach, always seeking improvement.

– Ability to cultivate strong relationships and confidence of managers, with the skills to challenge ideas and practices in a constructive and influential way.

– A clear communicator both written and verbal with strong interpersonal skills and collaborative attitude.

– Able to demonstrate a calm and logical approach when dealing with challenges in a fast-paced and creative environment.

– Highly organised and able to think strategically and analytically in order to identify and implement solutions.

– Ability to deal with sensitive issues confidently while maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating sensitivity and compassion.
