Colour Assistant

Salary: Commensurate with experience 

As a Colour Grading Assistant you’ll be part of the team responsible for the smooth running of our three Colour Grading suites ensuring the technical environment, media, and workflow run smoothly from project setup to final delivery.  We are a DaVinci Resolve based colour department,  experience using Resolve would be preferable, but not essential. This is a hands-on opportunity ideal for someone technically savvy, detail-oriented, and passionate about colour grading and visual storytelling.

This is a full-time, office-based role in our Shoreditch studio, where you’ll be working alongside two other Colour Assistants and a Datalab Operative in support of our three Colourists.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare conform edits using EDLs, AAFs, or XMLs.
  • Ensure deliverables meet technical specs and client expectations.
  • Copying/transferring files, project backups, database backups.
  • Manage media and maintain project documentation and hard drive logs.
  • Resolve technical issues and escalate as needed; act as point of contact for clients or colourists.
  • Assist with basic colour adjustments including contrast, brightness, and mood matching (under supervision).
  • Perform quality control checks on renders and media to ensure consistency.
  • Support client sessions and flag any visual or technical issues.
  • Assist on projects during quiet periods or out-of-hours if needed.
  • Troubleshoot suite or project-related issues and escalate appropriately.
  • Act as point of contact between colourists, clients, and internal team.
  • Communicate project status clearly and assist with timeline management to meet deadlines.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proactive work ethic and reliable problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with colour grading software (e.g. DaVinci Resolve; Baselight).
  • Previous exposure to post-production facilities, data or assistant roles.
  • Solid understanding of post workflows, media formats (EDL, AAF, XML), codecs, compression, and metadata.
  • Excellent communication, time management, organisation, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure, think on your feet, and collaborate with creative teams.
  • Right to work in the UK required.
