The successful candidate will join a well-established, dynamic and agile full service video production agency, with a diverse range of clients, including big name brands, across multiple sectors on both editorial and branded content. We’re a small but powerful team with a strong growth trajectory.

Based in Brixton, London, this role presents a great opportunity for a Senior Producer & Studio Manager to join our team. You will need to be a hands-on team player and happy to be the go-to person for our production, editing and motion teams.

The focus will be to act as a senior member of the company, empowered to manage the small studio and offer advice and expertise to the in-house producers, whilst taking the lead on key projects across all aspects of video production, editing and motion. You will maintain our high standards and help to improve internal efficiencies and consistent commercial results while you do it!

Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Head of Production, you will be responsible for day-to-day management of the studio and delivery of key campaigns for allocated client accounts. This will primarily include managing workflow across multiple teams, working with key stakeholders and clients and following processes to ensure resources are maximised and all work is delivered to a high standard.

You must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and be able to manage conflicting pressures and deadlines with a diplomatic and clear-headed approach. Client contact will be required and therefore you need to be comfortable with and capable of communicating effectively at all levels.

You will be a highly motivated, self-starter with experience in managing projects across video production, editing and motion. You will assume the role of ‘Budget Guardian’ and monitor budgets both internally with the team and externally with clients, ensuring that margins are maintained on each project.

You will have experience in line managing a small team, this will entail day-to-day mentoring and skill development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line manage, mentor and develop production staff
  • Create strong working relationships with internal creative teams to deliver project plans, timeline schedules and implementation of video production, motion and editing projects.
  • Daily management of the motion and editing teams’ schedules, making sure the studio is running efficiently and identifying jobs to fill down time
  • Manage day to day changing requirements to ensure deadlines are met and clients are 100% satisfied and in the loop throughout. This includes keeping within budget, or communicating and gaining approvals on increased budgets
  • Develop and oversee quotes, project plans, timeline schedules and implementation of projects across video production, editing & motion work
  • Ensure project processes are followed by the production team and relevant documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Ensure motion and editing teams needs are met with the sourcing and timely supply of all specs, guidelines and requirements
  • Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to to clients: QC-ing all is on spec/brief as well as quality assure – spell-checking, general eye for detail to ensure work is to a high standard
  • Add value throughout the planning and creative development processes, working closely with the Founder/Creative Director and HoP to smooth the process from client to studio and back again
  • Negotiate with suppliers to get best rates and reduce project costs
  • Report project performance and progress to the HoP and Founder/Creative Director on a regular basis
  • Liaise with clients to discuss briefs and feedback
  • Offer direction and support to junior members of the team, identifying bottle-necks within the team and pitching in where needed
  • Evaluation of projects to apply learning’s going forward
  • Manage profitability across all projects, in line with agreed profit targets

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in managing projects in a video production agency, demonstrating a track record of project planning, working across a number of clients and projects simultaneously
  • A sound understanding of all video production discipline, but equally adept at taking briefs on editing and motion graphics
  • Ability to question and understand briefs, to provide accurate work plans, budgets and timelines
  • Experience in budget setting and handling for creative projects – able to troubleshoot issues before they become critical
  • Experience in corporate and brand marketing
  • Process driven with the ability to multitask and continually re-prioritise tasks against project deadlines
  • Ability to work under own initiative with a desire for a degree of autonomy
  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex projects from conception to delivery using project management tools
  • Understanding of basic revenue models
  • Able to work with team members to get the best results in line with commercial & profit targets
  • Have a wide range of contacts within the industry in a variety of different roles
