Location Assistant Job Description

Locate Productions is a full-service print and digital production company. We provide print, social and digital content for brands, advertising agencies and photographers globally. We also provide a range of location services, from researching properties via our extensive database through to scouting and location managing production projects.

Job Overview

Our Location Assistant will be an integral part of our growing UK and international Locations Hub, using our extensive database of bookable venues to match film, TV, advertising and event production briefs to the perfect filming locations. You’ll be interacting frequently with clients, taking time to understand their specific production requirements and walking them through the whole process; from shortlisting locations to arranging recces, and putting all necessary paperwork into place. Additionally, you’ll spend time scouting new properties and assisting our Location Managers on a wide range of photographic and moving image shoots.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Head Of Locations to deliver the Locations Hub aims & strategy
  • Responding promptly to new and ongoing location enquiries from a wide range of clients
  • Undertaking location research and building of location shortlists for incoming briefs
  • Fielding phone calls and directing incoming briefs to the appropriate team member
  • Organising all associated recces, special requirements and booking confirmations
  • Raising Location Agreements, invoices and bills for all confirmed jobs
  • Providing pre and post shoot communication and support for clients and property owners
  • Researching potential new location properties, studios and venues
  • Visiting and, ideally, photographing new listings as required
  • Assist Location Managers with location scouting, pre-production planning, and permitting
  • Attend shoots as a Location Assistant, supporting Location Managers with duties as required
  • Researching and assisting with social and marketing content for Locations Hub
  • Gathering of behind-the-scenes and campaign content for social channels, clearing all permissions
  • Working closely with Location Researcher to update and streamline location database
  • Management of departmental enquiry and commission logs, and general administration

Skills & Qualifications

You will need to have an interest in all things location, while being a highly-organised, strong communicator with an ability to multi-task, prioritise and remain calm under pressure.

  • A good interest in, and some basic knowledge of, property, landscapes and architecture
  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to build good rapport with clients and location owners
  • Must have outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of database and spreadsheet creation and management
  • An ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • You must be proactive, eager to learn and self-motivated
  • Solutions-focused, with a good ability to problem-solve and think on your feet
  • A team player, who works well as part of a production crew/team as well as individually
  • Some photography experience would be advantageous, as well as familiarity with creating content for social media channels
  • A full UK driving licence is beneficial, although not a requirement
  • A keen interest, or desire to develop an interest in, sustainable production practices and associated networking
  • A commitment to our social and environmental purpose; working with us to make the necessary transition to meaningfully tackle climate change.

Experience requirements

You will need to have proven experience in an organisational role, and ideally some exposure working within the production industry. Previous experience co-ordinating shoots and/or locations would be helpful, although a can-do attitude and prior work multi-tasking in a team environment is a good foundation to build on. You should be able to demonstrate you’re eager to learn and have a strong interest in pursuing a career in film and photographic locations.

Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary including a performance-related, company-wide bonus.

25 days of paid annual leave in addition to bank holidays. Plus an extra day off on your birthday, and the period between Christmas & New Year on a discretionary basis.

Where

This is a full time role at our offices in Clapham Old Town, but with ad hoc travel around London and the UK as needed. Some flexibility with working arrangements and remote working can be discussed during the application process.
