Head of Development

About Us:

Iconic Steps is a social enterprise comprising of an academy and a newly created production house – We invest, support and train young people (16-25) from diverse backgrounds who need help in acquiring much needed skills, experience and resilience to increase their opportunities in entering the media industry. We are 10 years old and to date have placed alumni from the academy at Warner Bros, Disney, See Saw Films and beyond and have recognition in the industry with partnerships with ITV Studios, All3Media, Twenty Twenty, Pretty Bird to name a few. Our new production house offer is a creative studio with a social impact and will deliver digital marketing, advertising and communications services to our clients.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a true self-starter; someone who is looking for a step up in their career and who is hungry to develop and grow their own department and excited about our offer and what we stand for – producing with purpose. You will be working on your own sourcing clients, managing productions, running projects and overseeing the final output while also liaising with the CEO on strategy and implementation.

The role is focused on developing the video production service we offer to clients, currently in its infancy you will be the driving force building a strong client base and will ideally have a network of contacts and happy to take meetings and briefs from clients. An understanding of the video production world is critical as well as experience in managing a freelance team during live projects.

The Job:

This is a full-time flexible working role with an ability to work from home but be happy to travel to the office for key meetings, meet clients at their offices or attend shoots and edits as required.

  • New Business Development 60%
    • You will be responsible for lead generation and following up leads in response to marketing campaigns, seeking out new business prospects and reaching out via telephone, email and/or social media. You will be skilled in using a CRM system and the creation of proposals and pitch decks.
  • Account Management and Live Briefs 30%
    • You will manage an existing portfolio of clients: dealing with any client requests and preparing proposals where appropriate. You will liaise with creatives and producers to ensure projects are delivered on brief and on time with a focus on building on existing client revenues.
  • Freelance Management 10%
    • You will need to cultivate good working relationships with freelancers, becoming well aware of their skillsets and matching them to client briefs as well as building this contact book and having the ability to match the best resource with each project.

About You:

  • With a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in development, you will be well connected and have a proven track record of success.
  • You will be highly motivated and driven to achieve your targets whilst remaining a key team player. This role demands close client interaction and so strong communication skills are essential.
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure is crucial for you to be able to thrive in this fast-paced environment.
  • An affinity for the mission, vision and work of Iconic Steps and a passion to play a key role in shaping and achieving our success.
  • Experience in a creative agency would be advantageous as would an understanding of the video production cycle.

Key Skills Required:

  • Excellent telephone communication and people skills
  • Excellent lead generation skills, with ability to identify hot / warm / cold leads, and action accordingly
  • Good sales, negotiation and customer interface skills
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in using software: MS Office, Hubspot,
  • Strong administrative, documentation and organisational skills
  • Strong commercial acumen

Type: This is a full-time role.

Salary: £45,000 + bonus
