Finishing & VFX Editor


Role: Finishing & VFX Editor

London based, full-time position

We are looking for a full-time Finishing & VFX Editor to work in our busy studio in Holloway.  The successful candidate will work with us to manage and deliver commercial and short form content, ranging from full CG projects right through to hybrid work, that mixes live action with a myriad of puppetry & animation styles. You will be responsible for maintaining edits, assisting dailies and client reviews and postings and ensuring that deliverables meet both the technical and creative standards expected from a world-class production company.

  • A keen interest in and understanding of the editorial & finishing process
  • Liaising with Editors, Edit Assists and cutting rooms where required
  • Managing and documenting the turnover of edits through to delivery alongside the post producer
  • Managing and ingesting new media into pipeline
  • Working with and advising internal teams on colour workflows
  • Assisting in the prep and delivery of media to our outsource collaborators for paint and roto
  • Ensuring that published shots conform to current edits and keeping cuts updated with latest artist versions
  • Providing witness cam, line up, retime, resize, audio and other reference to artists where necessary
  • Ensuring QC and technical checks are performed at relevant stages during the pipeline
  • Updating production tracking tools such as Shotgun/CETA.
  • Preparing for and driving inhouse or remote dailies and client reviews
  • Moving in step with production, pipeline, artists / supervisors and other departments to provide guidance, information and support and offering solutions to challenges when they arise
  • Managing client deliveries
  • Using Flame / Smoke for final broadcast & social deliverables, including audio laybacks, clocking, supers & titling.
  • Making every effort to deliver work to the best of your ability and flagging when you feel this will be compromised


  • You are passionate about all forms of filmmaking, animation and entertainment and love working in this industry.
  • You are proactive, solution-orientated, good under pressure and comfortable working in a fast moving, creative environment.
  • You have a strong attention to detail, are, diligent and meticulous with excellent problem solving skills
  • You have a strong knowledge of and experience with hardware, software and disciplines used within the production and post-production industries and the desire to keep learning
  • You possess excellent communication and people skills, and are able to bring out the best in the team around you

Technical skills:

  • Demonstrable proficiency in editing using one or more tools such as Nuke Studio, Hiero, Avid, Davinci Resolve, Premier, Smoke or Flame
  • A firm understanding of the VFX process and terminology. Our studio currently uses software such as Premier, Resolve, RV, SynchSketch, Cinema 4D, Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, Blender, Modo, Houdini, Nuke. A firm understanding of common data ingest, colour management, file formats, resolutions and delivery workflows is required
  • Solid knowledge of Colour science terminologies and how they are implemented in VFX/Studio workflows
  • File encoding/transcoding experience, exhibiting a solid understanding of video codecs and file formats
  • Hands on experience with a Database such as Shotgun or F-Track.
  • The ability to move across email, Rocket/Slack, video chat, Pipedrive etc knowing these may all come into play


  • Min 3 years experience in a similar role in the TV / VFX industry is required
