Team: Moving Image

Reports to (Line Manager): Creative Director – Moving Image

Reports in (Direct Reports): None


Editors at The Canopy Studio will provide post-shoot support on all Moving Image projects going through the studio. You’ll be working on quick turnaround projects of varying scale and demand, manipulating footage into polished edits for both clients and The Canopy Studio. You will work closely with our Producers and Motion Designers to bring sound and visuals together seamlessly to tell brand stories. This role requires high levels of collaboration, attention to detail and passion for delivering striking and creative brand visuals.

We’re looking for someone demonstrates the following:

  • Careful, meticulous and detail oriented
  • Imaginative with great commercially focused storytelling skills
  • A familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing
  • Unphased by the fast paced, quick turnaround of projects post-shoot
  • A collaborative and supportive attitude
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a video Editor role for a production company or creative agency

Responsibility and skills:

  • Manipulate raw footage, input music, dialogue, graphics, and effects into polished, clear, engaging and creative rough cut edits for client review and final cuts deliverables
  • An original thinker, able to communicate your ideas both internally and externally
  • Able to take direction from all angles without losing sight of the original brief and goals
  • An advocate of ‘Design Together’, The Canopy Studio’s collaborative ethos
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premiere and Davinci Resolve

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Display first class communication skills, collaborating closely with Producers, Motion Designers and the Creative Director to ensure projects are understood and delivered on-brief, on-time, and on-budget
  • Ensure clients’ expectations are consistently exceeded, upholding our exceptional creative standards
  • Bring enthusiasm and energy to your role, whilst motivating others to do the same
  • Develop an in depth understanding of our client’s creative needs, and then work closely with our Moving Image team to ensure the best end creative product is delivered
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the strategic direction on all projects
  • Present your work in internal and client reviews using relevant media, e.g.: written ideas, storyboards, style frames
  • Work in a collaborative and engaged way with the broader team

Creativity and Curiosity

  • Continually discover and implement new editing technologies and industry best practices to maximise efficiency
  • Offer insight into your curiosity across the moving image sector and share this with the team
  • Demonstrate self-awareness and the ability to network with peers, collaborators, and clients at all seniority levels
  • Demonstrate a seniority on projects and a willingness and ability to deliver the highest level of service and support for both clients and team members at every stage of the project

Organisation and Planning

  • Adhere to our processes when creating and saving client materials, internal assets, and final files, using logical and clear sequencing for all edit versions
  • Engage in meetings and team sessions
  • Monitor and engage in discussion regarding your workflow via our chosen project management system
  • Manage and log of time spent on tasks as and when is requested
  • Advise when requested on queries from team members regarding project timings and deliverables
  • Attend both external and internal meetings, calls and the studio on time, every time
  • Adhere to our processes when requesting leave, and take all allocated annual leave as required
