Time Based Arts is looking for an enthusiastic part-time bookkeeper to join its team 2 days a week.

Time Based Arts has been quietly establishing its reputation as a stellar visual effects company for the last eleven years. Based in Shoreditch, East London it has gone about building a distinctive and creative body of work more commonly associated with the biggest global facilities.

Tucked into a yard off Old Street, their characteristic studios are located in the Caretaker’s Cottage, a Grade II listed Victorian townhouse annexed to the rear of the Shoreditch Town Hall. After an epic build from a starting point of nothing but a shell, the facility opened its doors in May 2009.

Time Based Arts has grown quickly with experience and expertise found throughout the creative team.

We are looking for someone with at least 2 years proven experience with accounting software, and the ability to learn in-house software systems.

The role includes:

  • Processing payments, invoices and income into Xero software and filing hard copies
  • Assisting Head of Finance with reconciliation of accounts on Xero.
  • Liaising with Head of Finance and providing receipts for reconciliation
  • Managing and chasing company directors for receipts
  • Uploading bank statements to Xero
  • Paying invoices and tracking bank account balances
  • Liaising with Head of Finance to complete VAT returns
  • Monitoring business accounts and alerting the Head of Finance of any errors
  • Preparing employee wage information for accountant and issuing payslips
  • Managing employee expense claims

Skills required:

  • Attention to detail for collecting financial data and recognising errors
  • Strong skills in mathematics for accurate record-keeping
  • Good administrative skills for filing financial records
  • Computer literacy, especially familiarity with spreadsheets, databases and accounting software such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Xero
  • Multi-tasking and organisational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills for dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues
  • Strong candidates will be confident, independent and share our passion for delivering original projects
