Assistant Editor (In-House)

Salary: 28-34k + perks & bonuses

Type: Full-Time, In-House Position

About the Role

Avenues is an independent, creative-led edit house based in Dalston, East London.

We seek a talented and motivated Assistant Editor to join our dynamic post-production team. This in-house position offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse and exciting projects and contribute significantly to the final product. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of industry experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Independently address fundamental technical problems and seek assistance for more complex issues. Managing software and hardware issues.
  • Project Setup: Efficiently set up projects for editing, ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Preliminary Selections: Make initial selections of shots and sequences to assist the editing process.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrate good operational knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Media Encoder and familiarity with Adobe After Effects. Davinci & Avid knowledge is a bonus.
  • File Management & Workflows: Manage media files effectively, understanding the fundamental differences in formats and codecs.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct meticulous reviews of edits before final handover, ensuring they are free from errors, glitches, or inconsistencies.
  • Syncing Footage: Efficiently sync and organise raw footage for editing.
  • Labelling and Logging: Accurately label and log footage for easy retrieval and reference. // Transferring rushes onto the server
  • Sound editing skills
  • Sound & Footage sourcing
  • Client Relationships: Occasionally attend client meetings to understand client-editor dynamics and support senior staff as needed.
  • Learning and Development: Continue learning advanced organisation techniques and improving editing skills.
  • LTO Library/Archiving
  • Strong understanding of VFX /colour/sound/delivery pipeline.
  • Prep EDLs, XMLs, AAFs, OMFs, plus reference vids for online.
  • Mastered the Online // final delivery phases of the project; highly organised and with a laser eye on QC
  • Logging in hard drives (FramersWife). Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of industry experience in a similar role for an established post-house.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere and a solid understanding of Adobe After Effects.
  • Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve would be beneficial
  • Excellent organisational and file management skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain positive client relationships.
